Guild hall, second floor
A gothic textura, the old blackletter book hand, but trimmed down so it survives on a screen and even on a coarse pixel display. Rodrigo Fuenzalida and Nicolas Massi simplified the shapes and kept the condensed structure, and the tight rhythm of a textura means it can manage a short paragraph as well as a header.
Fuenzalida, a Venezuelan designer based in Santiago de Chile who runs the foundry fragTYPE, likes drawing fonts for video games, and it shows: Pirata One would sit well on a fantasy game menu or a quest log.
1 Regular, Latin and Latin Extended, kerning and little else. Never set it in all caps; blackletter capitals in a row are close to unreadable.
