Thursday afternoon
Dear Alex,
I left the book by the window. There is a note on page twenty-three that I thought you would like. Bring it along on Thursday; we can finish the conversation over coffee.
See you there.

Norwegian children write stavskrift. Trykkskrift, a simple print script, comes first, capitals and small letters both, in first grade. Stavskrift follows in the middle of second grade or early in third: a modern cursive with no loops, taking its joins from continuous handwriting. The target for fourth grade is a legible, well formed and reasonably fluent hand. Teachers and schools can vary the route.
This font is the practice-sheet version of that hand. Every letter comes printed inside its own guide lines, baseline, x-height, ascender and descender, so a child copying it can see how tall each part should be. Typing underscores gives empty guide lines of word-space width, ready for the child to fill in.
It is the single-weight companion to Playwrite NO (Playwrite Norge), by Veronika Burian and José Scaglione of TypeTogether, and joined Google Fonts in November 2024. Its letter shapes come from the main family; it adds the lines and nothing else.
For a printed worksheet it saves an afternoon of drawing rules by hand. For anything else, use Playwrite NO itself.
