A Note On The Page
Bpmf Iansui · Regular
A short letter, set in the family.
Thursday afternoon
Dear Alex,
I left the book by the window. There is a note on page twenty-three that I thought you would like. Bring it along on Thursday; we can finish the conversation over coffee.
See you there.

Reading aloud after school
Some Chinese characters have more than 1 pronunciation, and a font that prints Bopomofo, the Zhuyin phonetic marks, next to each character has to cope with that. The old answer was a separate font file for each alternative reading. Bpmf Iansui keeps them all in 1.
It follows the Bopomofo IVS specification from ButTaiwan, But Ko’s project. Ideographic Variation Sequences and substitution features let the same character carry whichever reading the text needs, while the typeface stays the same throughout, and the specification has a companion web tool for adding the annotations.
The Chinese is Traditional and drawn in a handwriting style, around 10,500 characters, with 6 stylistic sets. A picture book or a classroom reader for children still learning their characters would be our first use for it.
