Kollam, a city in Kerala, used to be called Quilon, and Jonny Pinhorn borrowed the old name for this sans. He crossed 2 eras in it, the English grotesques of the 19th century and the postmodern design of the 1990s, and gave it real contrast between thick and thin strokes.

Across the full family the contrast climbs sharply as the weight goes up, Regular to Bold. This Regular is the calmest of the 4.

The capitals are short and barely rise over the lowercase, so a word in sentence case reads as an even band. A logotype or a display heading suits it, and display is where ITF aimed it.
