Every stroke of Raleway broken into a line of dots: that is Raleway Dots, made as the display sister of the Raleway family and released on Google Fonts the same day, 7 September 2012.
Raleway itself began as a single thin weight Matt McInerney drew and put out through The League of Moveable Type. Pablo Impallari and Rodrigo Fuenzalida, a Venezuelan designer who runs the fragTYPE foundry in Santiago de Chile, grew it into 9 weights in 2012, and Brenda Gallo shares the credit on the dotted version.
The dots keep the parent’s typographic manners. There are old style and lining numerals, standard and discretionary ligatures, small caps, and stylistic alternates that swap the default neo-grotesque letters for more geometric shapes.
We’d use it big, on a poster or a headline, where the dots have room to read as letters. The character set is Latin only.
