A Note On The Page

Slackside One · Regular

A short letter, set in the family.

Thursday afternoon

Dear Alex,

I left the book by the window. There is a note on page twenty-three that I thought you would like. Bring it along on Thursday; we can finish the conversation over coffee.

See you there.

Slackside means a loose end, the slack and relaxed side of things, and Maniackers Design drew this Japanese handwriting face to match: easygoing hiragana made new for Google Fonts, which added it in December 2020 and files it under both handwriting and display.

The kana lead. A Latin alphabet comes along, but it sits small inside the em, its lowercase reaching barely a third of the way up, so set English a size or 2 larger than you would expect.

1 style, built in FontLab and Fontographer 5.2J. Snack packaging and a birthday card are where we picture it.
