Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Tai Viet has a handwritten tradition, and Tai Heritage Pro keeps to it. The font comes from SIL International’s type team, which works for smaller language communities living next to big ones such as Chinese, English or Arabic, some of them with a script of their own. It was 1 of 3 SIL releases for little-served writing systems in Asia; the other 2 cover Yi and Lepcha.
The font is Unicode-encoded to version 5.2 of the standard or later, and it renders through both OpenType and Graphite.
Regular and Bold are the 2 weights, and the Latin side covers Vietnamese. For primers and community newsletters this is the font SIL built for the job.
