Glacial Indifference, an open source sans by Alfredo Marco Pradil of Hanken Design Co., is where Teachers began. Chank Diesel edited and extended its Regular and Bold, and in 2023 a team of educators, designers and editors shaped the result into an educational family for kindergarten through grade 6.
The aim is letters drawn the way American children are taught to draw them in grade school, so the letters in a reading book match the ones a child is asked to write. Publishers of magazines and books came first. Worksheets, class newsletters and school websites fit as well.
This download has 10 styles, Regular to Extra Bold, each with an italic. An adult reader may find it plain. For a 6 year old that plainness is the whole point.
