Every letter in Trispace takes 1 of 3 widths. That is the whole idea, and the name: a grid borrowed from monospace type, loosened with a few proportional touches.
Tyler Finck made it at his Etcetera Type Company, and Google added it in September 2020. 8 upright weights run from Thin to Extra Bold.
It sets very wide, so a 2 word heading fills a banner without being blown up. A slashed zero, tabular figures, small caps and 2 stylistic sets push it toward technical work, dashboard headers and data labels, where it reads as precise and a little looser than a true mono would.
Long paragraphs are another matter. The width makes the eye travel too far on every line.
