Tall and pinched thin, Tulpen One fits a headline into well under half the width Arial would need for it. That makes it useful wherever a column is thin and the words are long, a poster strip or the spine of a book.
Naima Ben Ayed drew it in 2011, with Anton Koovit credited as co-maker. She studied type design at the École Estienne in Paris, later spent several years at Dalton Maag in London, and opened her own practice in 2019, working on Arabic and Latin type. Her retail family 29LT Azahar, Arabic with Latin, came later.
1 Regular, basic Latin. Set it large, since it was drawn for headlines and never for text sizes.
