Notes From The Reading Room

The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.

A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Unna is his mother’s surname. Jorge de Buen named the design after her, and the font files credit him with it too, as Jorge de Buen Unna.

The face is neoclassical, strong stems set against delicate serifs, and a page of it has the upright, vertical rhythm that style is known for. It sets small. The capitals are short for the body size and the letters fit close, so on a screen you would give it a size or 2 more than you would give Georgia.

Regular and Bold, each with an italic that runs a little narrower than its roman and suits emphasis inside a sentence. 353 Latin glyphs, with a stylistic set and stylistic alternates.

Google has had it since July 2011; Omnibus-Type publishes it.
