SPRING POEMS AT THE OLD TEMPLE
In 1900 a Japanese script reform standardized hiragana, and the alternate forms in use before that, the hentaigana, were dropped. Yuji Hentaigana Akari brings those abandoned shapes back, written in the hand of the calligrapher Yuji Kataoka.
Kinuta Font Factory digitized his handwriting for the Yuji series. Akari holds the hentaigana as stylistic alternates of the standard hiragana set, so you can swap an everyday kana for its older variant. There is no katakana at all, for a simple reason: katakana never had hentaigana.
The Latin is all capitals, or small caps, so a Latin line in it reads like a title. For a sign or a poster with a period flavor, or anywhere a modern reader should see the older written forms, it fits; for running Japanese text you would pair it with a standard Japanese font.
