Wei Zhimang’s own handwritten calligraphy is the source of every character here. The writing is running script, the semi-cursive style in which the strokes inside a character run together while the characters themselves stay separate, and the font keeps that movement.

Its look recalls the work of Wu Changshuo, the celebrated calligrapher. Zhi Mang Xing holds 7,015 characters for Simplified Chinese, plus Latin letters that run very narrow, all in 1 Regular style. It came to Google Fonts in March 2019.

Use it where brushwork belongs, on a book cover or a tea tin, at a size that lets each stroke show.
