The 2 and the 7 in Zodiak carry little flags on their strokes, and the upright g has an ear that pokes up above the x-height. Those are the details to look for in a serif that otherwise behaves like a newspaper face: vertical stress, thick bracketed serifs that come close to slabs, and proportions that recall the Century types of the late 19th century.
5 designers in Paris worked on it, Jérémie Hornus, Gaetan Baehr, Jean-Baptiste Morizot, Alisa Nowak and Theo Guillard, for the Indian Type Foundry, and it went up on Fontshare in March 2021. The full family has 6 weights from Thin to Black, each with an italic, and the italics end their strokes in ball terminals.
This page has the Regular. It sets wide, and the designers meant the middle weights for running text and the extremes for display. We would still put it in headlines and magazine titles first, with a short intro paragraph at 20 px as the lowest it goes.
