A sans serif with high contrast is an odd animal, thick and thin strokes on letters that have no serifs to justify them, and the Latin half of Arya is exactly that. Eduardo Tunni drew it new so it would match the Devanagari in weight and size.
The Devanagari came first. It started life as Modular InfoTech’s design 1201, and Tunni smoothed it out for this family, working from Buenos Aires, where he leads the project. Google Fonts added it in 2015.
2 weights, Regular and Bold, with 579 characters. We like it best on a poster or a magazine cover where Hindi and English sit together in big type and the contrast has room to show. In small text the thin strokes have less to give.
