Dan Sayers computed this font. He took every font in Google’s web font library as it stood on 9 November 2011, 725 of them, and averaged their outlines, so every letter in it is the mean of hundreds of versions of itself. The metrics came out of the same averaging, and the character set is whatever a majority of the source fonts had in common.
The serif branch of the result comes in 6 styles: Light, Regular and Bold with an italic for each. Averia Libre, Averia Sans Libre and Averia Gruesa Libre are its siblings. We like it best in a title, where a reader who knows the story can enjoy it, and the plain Latin set will cover English and the main Western European languages.
