New campaign drops Thursday

Nigel Bogle founded the advertising agency BBH in Soho, London, in 1982, together with John Bartle and John Hegarty. When BBH Global commissioned its own typeface from Studio DRAMA, each width took a founder’s name, and Bogle got the condensed one.

Studio DRAMA, a London studio that acts as type director for branding agencies, calls the design a display-first take on British Grotesque: blunt details, modern proportions and a semi-monospaced rhythm. BBH then let the family out for anyone to use and adapt.

The character set is small, basic Latin with a stylistic set, so keep it to English headlines. Because it is narrow, a long headline that would wrap in Hegarty has a better chance of fitting on 1 line here.
