Blinker is built on the squircle, the shape halfway between a square and a circle, so the round letters have flattened sides and the curves run straight for a while before they turn. Its designer, Jürgen Huber of supertype, described it as Eurostyle’s flamboyant cousin, which is a fair way in.
Huber drew the original 9 weights in 2019 and meant them for medium and large text, not long reading. The strokes have almost no contrast.
The download here has 8 weights from Thin to Black, all upright, and skips 500, so a design system that wants a Medium will have to choose between Regular and Semi Bold. What makes up for it is the figure set: old style and lining, tabular and proportional, with fractions. Set a league table or a price grid in Regular with the tabular figures switched on and every column lines up.
Keep the Thin and Extra Light for big headings, 48 px or more.
