Bridges over the Danube at night
Each letter in Buda is shared out between 2 contrasting weights, and Adèle Antignac meant them to clash. She set the face against typographic gray, the even texture text is usually supposed to make, and called it a black and white typeface.
Budapest gave her the idea, a city she found paradoxical, beautiful and ugly, fragile and exuberant at once, and the face is meant to hold mismatched pieces together the same way.
It came to Google Fonts in December 2010. 1 style, labeled Light, 213 Latin glyphs. Set it at poster size, on a gallery wall or a book jacket, where the contrast inside each letter can be seen.
