Grand prize draw at the town hall

German posters from the early 1900s, lettered by hand, gave Yvonne Schüttler the idea for Poller One. It is a sans with real contrast, thick and thin parts in the strokes, and it is drawn broad, so a short word fills a lot of width.

That contrast is also its limit. The thin parts need size to hold up, and Schüttler recommends medium sizes and up. On a gig poster or a shop banner it is cheerful and loud; below about 20 px it starts to look patchy.

Sorkin Type published it, and Google Fonts added it in September 2011. 1 style, basic Latin.
