Notes From The Reading Room

The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.

A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Type a lowercase sentence in Cinzel and you get capitals back, only shorter ones. There is no lowercase in the usual sense; the small letters stand almost as tall as the caps, so every line reads as a carved title.

Natanael Gama took the letters from Roman inscriptions of the 1st century and kept their classical proportions. He wasn’t after a straight revival, and the shapes carry a contemporary finish on top of all that ancient history.

6 weights, Regular through Black. Old style figures, discretionary ligatures, contextual alternates and 2 stylistic sets are tucked in.

My advice is to track it out generously and keep it short, a title or a name. A whole paragraph of it turns into a block of capitals that tires the eye by the third line.
