A Note On The Page

Thursday afternoon
Dear Alex,
I left the book by the window. There is a note on page twenty-three that I thought you would like. Bring it along on Thursday; we can finish the conversation over coffee.
See you there.

Getting every lowercase letter to join naturally to every other one was, by Ania Kruk’s account, the hardest part of Cookie. It was her first script and her first published typeface, released about 3 months after she graduated from the University of Arts in Poznań. Before that she had studied product design, interned at Estudio Mariscal in Barcelona and done a master’s in typography and editorial design at Eina.
The letters come from brush calligraphy, with some of the 1950s in them, the ads and pin-ups of that decade. Kruk thought of it as a face for titles: invitations, menus, recipes, posters, flyers, a blog header. It is plain enough to stay legible in a short text set smaller. The lowercase is small against the capitals, so set it a size larger than you first think.
