Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Fresh eggs at the gate
The edges of Copse are softened, but the letters stand up straight and sturdy, a low-contrast slab serif that Dan Rhatigan drew in 2010. It was among the early Google Fonts, added that December.
1 Regular, 212 Latin glyphs, kerning. The lowercase is a good size for a serif, which helps on a label or a sign. We would try it on a children’s book cover or a farm shop label, set large enough for the soft corners to show.
