Inverted contrast is the detail to look for here. A grotesque normally runs its horizontal strokes a shade thinner than the verticals, and Cossette Titre turns that around, gently, so gently that we’d expect most readers to feel it before they could point to it. Cossette, the communications company, built the face out of the everyday graphics of its own brand.
Titre is the condensed half of a pair. Its sibling Cossette Texte is wider and meant for sentences, and Titre exists to squeeze impact into a tight space, which it does. Its lowercase takes up about a quarter less room than Arial’s, so a long headline can stay on 1 line.
There are 2 weights, Regular and Bold, Latin only, with tabular figures for prices and dates in an ad. We would keep it to titles and let Texte set anything longer than a subhead.
