Type “noooooo” in DynaPuff and the o’s don’t sit in a flat row. OpenType code nudges each repeated letter up or down a little, so a stretched-out word bounces the way it would if you had drawn it by hand.
The trick suits where the font lives. Toshi Omagari designed it, with Jennifer Daniel credited too, and on Gboard, Google’s keyboard for Android and Pixel phones, you can turn a typed message into a sticker set in DynaPuff. The sticker project was a finalist in Fast Company’s Innovation Design Awards.
The lowercase is tall, almost as tall as the capitals, and the font was tuned to stay legible small, on a sticker or a candy wrapper, while it also works big in a children’s book or on a shop sign. There are 4 weights, Regular, Medium, Semi Bold and Bold, with 2 stylistic sets.
Keep it away from anything serious. It isn’t trying to be subtle.
