The idea came from the lettering inside a Russian commuter train. Valery Zaveryaev took that and built Electrolize from it, a squarish geometric sans with humanist proportions and a precise, technical air.
Its rectangular, modular construction keeps the letters sitting firmly on the baseline, and the outlines are plain and straight, which suits it to screens and print alike. Zaveryaev meant it to work from body copy up to headlines; at large sizes small details in the terminals start to show.
1 Regular style, basic Latin. A transit map key or a dashboard label would be a natural home.
