Take a Bodoni and soften it with some of the curves of an italic, and you are close to what Alejandro Inler was after with Elsie. He developed it with Ana Sanfelippo as a take on Bodoni for the world of fashion and glamour, and this Swash Caps family adds capitals that sweep out into flourishes.
There are 2 Elsie families, the plain one and this one, each with a Regular and a Black meant for large display. On a magazine cover the Black earns its place: Bodoni contrast at that weight makes for a lot of drama, and the swash capitals give the first letter of a name or a title something to do. Keep the Regular for subtitles and do not use either for body copy; the only feature is standard ligatures, and the design has no interest in small sizes.
