Of the South Indian members of Baloo 2, the Telugu one carries the most glyphs, and the reason is in how Telugu is written. A Telugu vowel sign often reshapes the top of the consonant it attaches to, so the font holds a separate drawing for a great many consonant and vowel pairs. Then every consonant needs a second, smaller form, the one that hangs below the line when it comes second in a cluster. Add them up and the Telugu side runs to around 600 extra glyphs.
Maithili Shingre and Omkar Shende drew it.
On the page the letters are wide and round-bellied, with the little check mark on top of many of them, the talakattu, drawn soft. The 5 weights go from Regular to Extra Bold. Pick the Extra Bold for a cinema poster title and the Regular for the line or 2 of Telugu underneath, and the English set alongside will match since the Latin comes from the same family.
One gap to know about. The Latin here has no fractions or tabular figures, which several of its siblings do have, so for a price list with columns of numbers you would want a second font for the figures.
