Gig tonight, doors at 9
Every corner in Underdog is broken, the line snapping and restarting where a smooth turn would normally go. Sergey Steblina got that from hand-made signs on the street and from lettering in music culture, and although each shape looks improvised, he ran them all on shared rules so the font holds up in a sentence as well as in a single word.
His own claim is that it changes mood with its surroundings, punk on a gig poster and childish in a kids’ design, and we think that is fair; the letters are odd enough to take on whatever the layout around them suggests. Jovanny Lemonad did the technical engineering and published it in 2012. 1 style, Latin and Cyrillic.
