Saturday night wrestling, doors open
Look at the ends of the stems in Freeman and they are cut at a slope. That is 1 of the small handwritten touches Rodrigo Fuenzalida, Aoife Mooney and Vernon Adams put into what is otherwise a traditional gothic display sans. The counters were also opened a little and the stems tuned for bold display use in web browsers.
It is a single weight, and a heavy one.
The surprise is inside the file. For a 1 style display face it is very fully equipped: small caps, old style and lining figures in proportional and tabular widths, a slashed zero, fractions, superscripts and subscripts, discretionary ligatures. Language coverage is wide too, with African Latin and full Vietnamese on top of the Western, Central and South-Eastern European languages, over 1,000 glyphs in all.
We would use it big. In a headline or a fight-night poster, the sloped terminals give it some movement that a plain gothic lacks.
