25,582 characters. The 12 pixel proportional files of the same font carry about 11,000 more, so before you settle on 10px for a Chinese game, check that the rarer characters in your script made it in. The project keeps per-size character statistics in its docs folder for exactly this, and a browser playground shows any line you paste.
Why choose 10 at all? It sits between Fusion Pixel’s other sizes. At 12 a dialogue box fills quickly, at 8 the dense characters get cramped, and 10 is a fair compromise for a status bar or a quest log on a small display.
The Han characters follow the shapes of China’s Table of General Standard Chinese Characters. Ark Pixel Font, TakWolf’s main project, supplies the base glyphs and the metrics at this size, and Galmuri the Hangul. Spacing is proportional and kerned, which the README recommends for most work, and Greek and Cyrillic come along with the CJK.
Upstream, the font is now listed as Fusion Pixel 10px Prop zh-Hans.
