Engineering drawings, survey plans and architects’ sheets are the world Gudea comes from. Agustina Mingote drew it from the lettering on technical documentation, and her first use for it was labels and maps, where text has to fit in tight spots and still be read quickly.
The structure is simple and condensed. Its italic runs much tighter again, 9.9% narrower than the Regular, which helps when a long place name has to squeeze between 2 roads. There is a Bold for emphasis and that is the family, 3 styles in all, Latin with the extended accents.
Mingote later called it a family for any design job. We would keep it close to its roots: wayfinding and floor plans. On Google Fonts since January 2012.
