Hebrew, Greek and Cyrillic all sit in this single style next to the Latin, 2,081 characters in total, which is a lot of ground for a font that only exists to set things large.
Libertinus started as a fork of Linux Libertine and Linux Biolinum, and the project’s stated aim was to tidy their details and make them behave in current typesetting systems. Scholarly publishing and technical documents are the home turf, with a Sans, a Mono and math support elsewhere in the family. Philipp H. Poll is the credited designer. The Display cut came to Google Fonts in April 2025.
There is 1 weight and no italic, and the only OpenType feature listed is kerning, so do not go looking here for small caps or alternate figures. It also sets narrow for a serif, about 9% tighter than Arial across a run of lowercase.
Our suggestion would be to pair it with Libertinus Serif for the running text and keep this one for chapter openings and titles from around 24 px up.
