Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Most digital Caslons go back to the 18th-century specimens of William Caslon I and William Caslon II. Libre Caslon goes somewhere else, to the way hand lettering artists drew Caslon for advertising in the 1950s. Pablo Impallari and Rodrigo Fuenzalida made it for the web, where they found the older revivals came out too small as body text on screen, and this Display cut is the version tuned for headlines, the partner of Libre Caslon Text.
Igino Marini did the kerning with his iKern system. Old style figures, discretionary ligatures and a stylistic set come with it, and the character set covers 103 Latin languages, from Afar to Zulu.
It is a single Regular, on the narrow side, and its small x-height wants size. Give it a web headline of 40 px or more, or the cover of a cookbook, and set the text underneath in Libre Caslon Text.
