More than 5,700 kanji in 9 weights is the practical case for M PLUS 2. Coji Morishita’s M+ FONTS project calls itself a nifty little family for everyday use, and this is its sans, with kana beside the kanji and Google’s Latin Plus set, Vietnamese included.
The letterforms lean classic. Morishita describes the goal as a new standard of classic modern, a phrase that sounds like a contradiction and probably means to.
Thin through Black covers a hairline display line as easily as a heavy button label, and tabular figures and fractions are there for prices and tables. Its Latin sets wide, so English words inside Japanese text take up more room than you might plan for.
