Spring returns to the old house

Yinglian are the short poems and blessings posted on either side of the doorway to a home or a temple, and Ma Shan Zheng recalls the lettering used for them. It is a heavy brush calligraphy for Simplified Chinese, broad and expansive, credited to Ma ShanZheng.

There are 7,015 characters in a single weight, so treat it as a display hand. We’d use it for festival banners or the name over a restaurant door. Small sizes are another matter, since heavy strokes like these will clog.
