Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Chapter 7: The Harbor Road
Type a lowercase word in Marcellus SC and it comes out in small capitals. That is the whole idea of this cut: there is no lowercase alphabet, only full capitals and short ones, which is how Roman inscriptions were written, and Roman inscriptions are where Brian J. Bonislawsky of Astigmatic started.
He drew 2 families from that source in 2012. Plain Marcellus has a lowercase and goes wherever a flared serif can go. Marcellus SC leans harder toward the titling look of the Trajan column, and its serifs are flared, swelling out of the stroke more than they sit on it.
1 Regular style, with fractions, ordinals, superscripts and kerning. The character set covers Latin-1 and Latin-2 plus Turkish and the Baltic languages.
Use it where a line is short and should look carved: a book title, the running head over a chapter, a letterhead. Open the tracking a little.
