Martian Mono is wide for a coding font. A line of lowercase takes about 27% more room than it does in Consolas, so you fit fewer characters across an editor pane, and in exchange each letter has space to be read without squinting.

Roman Shamin drew it at Evil Martians as the monospaced member of Martian Grotesk, and it carries over that family’s blunt, attention-grabbing look along with what makes it practical, balanced metrics and a systematic build for developers and designers who like their tools consistent. In January 2023 basic Cyrillic was added, so Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian now work.

The full design is variable in width and weight. Here you get 8 static weights, Thin to Extra Bold.

We would run Regular in the editor and Medium in a terminal with a dark background, and try the Extra Bold for headings in technical docs, where a mono heading over mono code looks deliberate.
