Vercel made the Geist fonts together with Basement Studio. Geist Mono is the coding half of that system, and Geist, the sans, is its partner. The people named on the Google Fonts page are Andrés Briganti, Mateo Zaragoza, Guillermo Rauch, Evil Rabbit, José Rago and Facundo Santana.

Both Geist fonts look back to Swiss design, and in the mono that comes out as stripped, orderly letters, built to read easily in an editor and sit cleanly next to the sans in documentation or a product UI.

There are 9 weights, Thin at 100 to Black at 900. That opens it up to slides and big hero text as well as the editor. 8 stylistic sets let you swap individual characters, and Cyrillic is covered. My suggestion is Regular or Medium in the editor and something from Semi Bold up for display.
