Emre Parlak spells it Majör, with the Turkish ö that the Google Fonts name leaves out. It is an all-capitals monospace, but it hides 2 alphabets in 1 file. Type in lowercase and you get serious geometric sans capitals; type in uppercase and you get a set of playful constructivist display letters instead.
He put them on the 2 cases on purpose. On the web, OpenType stylistic sets can be awkward to switch on, while every system can tell a capital from a small letter, so mixing the 2 looks is a matter of what you type. A designer can drop a single odd constructivist letter into a sober word without touching any settings.
Parlak is a brand and communication designer more than a full-time type founder. He studied at Yeditepe and Sabancı universities in Istanbul, co-founded the design studio Fevkalade in 2009, taught at Yeditepe, Sabancı and Özyeğin, and in 2022 joined Binghamton University as a lecturer.
