Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Ligatures carry a lot of the load in Mirza. A Los Angeles design studio, KB Studio, built it as a Naskh text face that tries to follow the rules of Arabic and Persian aesthetics, and the way it gets there is through those ligatures, standard and discretionary, with contextual alternates working underneath.
The Arabic is Kourosh Beigpour’s design. Eduardo Tunni supplied the Latin companion, so a page can switch between scripts without the texture jumping, and Lasse Fister did the engineering that makes all the substitutions work.
4 weights: Regular, Medium, Semi Bold and Bold. 945 characters.
This is a reading face first. For a Persian novel or a scholarly book with English notes we would put it near the top of the list. It has been on Google Fonts since 2016.
