Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Tibetan writes some of its letters in subjoined forms, tucked under the letter above, and that is part of why the script needs software with complex text layout support. Contextual alternates and localized forms sit in this font’s feature list for the shaping work.
The script is a Central Asian abugida written left to right, in use since about 650 CE across Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal and India. Google’s notes count about 5 million users, writing Tibetan, Dzongkha, Ladakhi and Sikkimese, and Sanskrit for religious texts.
This is the modulated, serif side of Noto’s Tibetan, with thick and thin in the strokes, in 9 weights from Thin to Black. For a long printed text, stay between Light and Bold and save the extremes for headings and posters.
