A museum’s new identity needed its own letters. The Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, in the San Telmo district, got MuseoModerno from Omnibus-Type, the Buenos Aires type collective, with Marcela Romero, Héctor Gatti and Pablo Cosgaya as designers and Yorlmar Campos credited with development.
It is a contemporary geometric face, and it looks best large, on a banner outside a building or the cover of an exhibition catalog. To our eye the Thin reads like a delicate line drawing and the Black like something heavy and almost toylike, which gives a designer 2 quite different moods inside 1 family.
Work on it began in December 2019. The italics did not come until June 2022, and they completed the set: 9 weights, each with its italic, 18 styles here.
There is more under the hood than a museum logo face strictly needs, old style and tabular figures, fractions, a slashed zero and 3 stylistic sets. The character set covers Western and Central Europe, Turkish, the Baltic languages and Vietnamese.
