News Gothic, the stalwart newspaper face American Type Founders brought out around 1908, is the main source for News Cycle. Nathan Willis, a type designer in Texas, revived it as a realist sans, clear enough for long blocks of copy and still good-looking in a headline at the top of the page.
He did not stop at the original character set. The revival reaches into Eastern European and African languages, and Greek and Cyrillic were added after; with Vietnamese in there too it now runs to 1,564 characters.
Regular and Bold. It sets slightly narrow, which suits a news column, and old style figures are available for numbers inside running text. A news site or a long report would be the natural home.
