The Rohingya language was written in Arabic script until the 1980s, when Mohammad Hanif created an alphabet for it. Hanifi Rohingya runs right to left and is used in Myanmar for a language of about 1.5 million speakers.
Google’s Noto project, which wants a font for every script in use or on record, added this plain sans with even strokes. The Monotype design team and DaltonMaag did the drawing. There are 4 weights, Regular, Medium, Semi Bold and Bold, enough to put a heading over a paragraph, plus 2 stylistic sets and a Latin.
