The small letters of Open Sauce One come up to a little under 3 quarters of the capital height. Alfredo Marco Pradil made the superfamily as the in-house type of Creative Sauce and aimed it at small sizes, in print as much as on a screen, and the big lowercase is where that shows.
One is the plain branch. Pradil’s notes call it a clean grotesque without ink traps, neutral and suited to editorial work; Sans keeps the traps, and Two goes round.
There are 14 files, Light through Black, with an italic beside every weight. Figures come tabular or proportional. Fractions and ordinals are there, and punctuation can shift up to suit an all-capitals line.
We would set a report’s body in Regular and save Black for the cover line.
