Morning market in Yunnan

Tai Le has been written in Yunnan, in southwest China, since around 1200 CE, for the language also called Tai Nüa. It runs left to right as an abugida, and between 1952 and 1988 it was revised several times. The tone marks in this font sit as their own characters at the end of the block.

Monotype’s design team drew the script for Google’s Noto collection, unmodulated, with strokes of even weight. Look past the letters and the file also carries punctuation from the CJK block, the 、 and 。 and the double angle brackets, plus a set of Myanmar-style digits and a full Latin alphabet. 1 Regular weight.
