Mangei Gomango created the Sora Sompeng script in 1936 so that the Sora language of India could stop borrowing other people’s writing. Before that it had been written in Telugu, in Oriya, and in a script based on the phonetic alphabet. The result has 24 letters, runs left to right and works as a syllabary, and around 300,000 people speak the language it was made for.

David Williams of Monotype drew this Noto version, an unmodulated sans in 4 weights from Regular to Bold, with a Latin alongside so a Sora text can carry English words and numbers in the same font.
