Northern Thai is written in Lanna, also called Tai Tham, in Thailand and in China, and the same script once served the Lü and Khün languages. It is an abugida that needs software support for complex text layout, so the app you set it in matters as much as the font.
Monotype’s design team drew the first version of this Noto font in 2013. David Williams revised it in 2020, and the family now has 4 weights, Regular, Medium, Semi Bold and Bold. The strokes are even, sans style, and a Latin set comes along.
If you are making signage or teaching material for Northern Thai readers, use Bold for headings and give the lines extra leading.
