Ahom manuscript, folio 7
No one speaks Ahom anymore. The language belonged to the Tai Ahom community in India, and its script, an abugida written left to right, was in use from the 13th to the 18th century, until the Assamese language and its writing largely took over.
Google’s Noto project gave the script a modulated, serif design: 63 Ahom characters drawn as 76 glyphs, with Latin and Latin Extended alongside so a transliteration or an English gloss can sit on the same line. A few stylistic alternates are in there as well.
1 Regular style. Anyone setting Ahom for a catalog, a paper or an exhibition label has what they need in it, and not much reason to look elsewhere.
